If you need to send someone a secret message, you'll like this idea.
All you'll need is a pen, some paper and a two litre pop bottle, filled with water and with the label taken off. |
The bottle acts like a lens, so that light passing through it bends and reverses the letters on the paper, allowing you to read the words. |
The beauty of this secret code system is that the letters don't look as though they're back to front, meaning you can write real words that don't appear to make any sense.
The first thing to do is see what each letter of the alphabet looks like when viewed through the bottle of water.
You'll see that many of the letters look the same – like the H and O – but look at the F – it looks like a t!
So - get another piece of paper. Write the letters A to Z in a vertical column down one side.
Alongside, write the letter or shape that you need to write to disguise it. |
For example, the A is written as a V…
…and the Q is written as an O followed by an apostrophe. |
If you view these letters under the bottle, you'll see that the V looks like an A but without the horizontal line… |
…and the Q looks like this.
So – the word MOLDZ ZECLEF reads as SECRET WORDS when viewed through the bottle.
Genius!
