Boomerangs are harder to throw and catch than they are to make!
You'll need three lolly sticks, three pieces of card and some blu-tack.
Stick the lolly sticks in an equal triangle.
Make the triangle as big as you can.
Now fasten the pieces of card onto the ends of the sticks. The card is about three quarters of the length of the lolly sticks. If you experiment with different sizes you'll get different effects...

And then... hey presto! Your boomerang is ready to fly.
To throw the boomerang, hold it upright, tilt it out ever so slightly, and when you throw it flick your wrist back so that it spins really quickly, nd it will come back to you!
Honest!

It does so because it's spinning. The top wing spins in the direction of flight so it's moving through the air more quickly than the bottom wing. The faster something moves, the more lift it makes. So as the boomerang tries to twist, it has the effect of steering it round in a circle. And that's why boomerangs return!
